2018, Linocut and Woodcut on Japanese Paper, Hardwood Ply and Linoleum Composites
This series of prints contain a merging of imagery from two seminal 20th-century animations, Disney’s Pinocchio and Otomo’s cyberpunk classic Akira. In both features, characters are punished for their hubris by being transformed-- into donkeys in the former and into a gory leviathan in the latter. The use of bold colours and the measurements are inspired by children’s books and manuscripts. This work was first shown at Modern Painters, New Decorators, Loughborough in a group two-person show with Jackie Berridge, February 2018.
